PIERRE ANTOINE LUMOS
FULL NAME: Pierre Antoine Lumos
NICK NAME: Pi, Lumos, ‘Hot stuff’, ‘Bitch’
AGE: Seventeen
GRADE OR OCCUPATION: Academy Senior (and lead singer in C'est la Fête)
ORIENTATION: Bisexual
ALLIANCE: Neutral
FACE CLAIM: Jérémy Kapone
EYE COLOR: Dark brown
HAIR COLOR: Dark brown, but it has a habit of changing to a fiery red when he’s emotional.
HEIGHT AND WEIGHT: 5’11” and 55kg
DESCRIPTION: Tall, skinny, with a slight athletic side to his build, he’s not very out of the ordinary at first glance. He has dark brown eyes, only a shade or so darker than his hair, and a little speckling of freckles across his cheeks, which are more visible when he’s been in the sun for a long time. Nothing particularly strange there then.
The most unusual part of Pierre’s appearance is his hair. Normally it’s quite natural, a bit fly-away or messy (whether that’s intentional or not is hard to tell). But when he’s very emotional, particularly when he’s angry, it has the strange habit of changing colour from its average-looking dark brown colour to a fire-like red. When Pierre isn’t overly emotional, his hair is still pretty. Its dark brown colour matches his eyes and has a nice effect, hence why he’s never been tempted to dye it (and why he’s not so keen on the red colour it sometimes becomes). Another slightly unusual thing is the way he blushes. When he’s embarrassed or angry, or faced with any other opportunity that would make his skin flush, he finds that his skin becomes a lot hotter than most. It’ll look just like an average blush, maybe slightly redder, but his skin will be almost too hot to touch. Even when he’s not blushing, his skin is slightly too hot, it’s just not as noticeable.
Style-wise, he’s pretty lazy. More often than not it’ll be the obvious jeans and shirt, or jeans and t-shirt, or jeans and t-shirt with a shirt over it. And it probably won’t differ much. Even when he’s making an effort it rarely varies much from his usual. To be honest though, Pierre is handsome, and he knows it. He’s been told numerous different times that he’s ‘cute’ or ‘hot’ and he loves it. He takes pride in his appearance and can be pretty damn vain sometimes.
PERSONALITY: Pierre and Lumiere share quite a few qualities. Firstly, they’re both very confident, and can talk in front of a million people and not be bothered by it. They’re both also quite theatrical, and would prefer to put on a huge show than simply introduce themselves to someone. Both Pierre and Lumiere have a very good sense of humour, and are more than willing to make jokes at their own or other peoples’ expense (so long as they aren’t too offended). They’re also both very charming and charismatic, and use these little skills to flirt, make friends, or make their dramatic style of life more effective. Also, like Lumiere did with helping Belle, Pierre is more than willing to break rules if they’re in his way. And finally, Pierre is friendly, as Lumiere is, and can pretty much make friends with anyone if they’re willing to put up with him.
Lumiere is possibly most well-known for his flair with women. He’s handsome, charming, confident, funny, and has a sexy French accent, so never struggles to have ‘a mademoiselle on each arm’ as he said himself. Pierre shares in this. He’s always been lucky with relationships, and has started getting a bit cocky with it, not being as nice as he should to his dates because he claims he can just go and find someone else if they leave him, and why would they want to leave him anyway? But Lumiere will soon sort that out.
Of course, Pierre does have his own qualities. For a start, he’s not always focused on doing the ‘good’ thing. Well, basically he won't purposefully pick the good option because it's good, he’s much more likely to take the option that benefits himself the most. He’s also not a fan of serving others like Lumiere does, and is consequently very unlikely to offer to help anyone with anything voluntarily. Not in a spiteful or cruel way – if you ask him to help he might complain but would eventually do it – he just doesn’t tend to be voluntarily useful. Pierre is also much more adventurous than Lumiere (not always in a good way): he’s willing to try new things at the drop of a hat, and will say yes to most offers given to him, just because it sounds fun, even if it could be dangerous.
But Pierre has some very bad habits too, which stop him from being the lovely, innocent good guy he may seem at first glance. For a start, he smokes, he drinks, and he’s been known to dabble in drugs, purely because someone told him to. Basically, he can be easily lead when he wants to remain ‘cool’ or ‘popular’ and will bow to peer pressure very quickly. Also, he can be a bit of a bitch sometimes: he’ll spread rumours about you to get back at you, and he’s been known to double-cross you to get his own way (unless you're one of his closest friends).
Pierre does have a few quite feminine qualities as well, which is why it wasn’t much of a surprise when people found out he was bisexual. He can be bitchy when he’s annoyed with people; he has quite a fascination with his appearance, particularly his hair (hence why he hates the way it changes to red occasionally); and he can get on with and chat with girls about fashion and gossip as easily as he can with boys, talking about sport and girls. All this, plus the confidence behind it, means no-ones really bothered by Pierre’s choice in dates.
He's quite popular, mostly because of things like wild parties he's thrown, stories he's told about drunken adventures, or one-night stands he's had and flaunted to some of his friends. People seem to like the wilder side of his personality, the way he quite happily puts himself in danger for attention and so on, so he flaunts it more than the nicer side of himself, especially when he’s in public.
Over time, specifically after Lumiere has awoken, the wild side of Pierre’s personality is likely to change, and he’ll most likely calm down and become more of the gentleman he should be. To be honest, the best way to learn about Pierre’s personality is just to meet him, as the way he behaves does vary depending on what he thinks of you.
HOMETOWN: Lyon, France, and before moving to Memory, he had lived there all his life.
FAMILY MEMBERS: Pierre’s mother, Annabelle Lumos, and his father Jean Lumos, both still live in Lyon in France with his little sister, Amelia Lumos.
HISTORY: Born on 17th September, 1993 in Lyon in France, Pierre lived quite a happy, normal life before receiving his letter. He was a healthy, happy child, very loud and shouty, and sometimes quite purposefully naughty too (for example, he used to draw on the walls at other people’s houses, but not at his own, and would only pick fights when he knew someone was watching). His parents often just laughed it off, and wouldn’t really reprimand him for it, and you’d get the impression just looking at that behaviour that Pierre was a spoilt child. That’s only half true: Pierre got his own way if he got there himself - if he asked for something he’d get nothing. He grew up learning that if he did things for himself in life, he could do what ever he wanted.
When his little sister came along seven years after Pierre’s birth, the family remained lovely and happy. Well, Pierre and Amelia did argue a lot, as any siblings would do (they’d scream at each other, or have mini fights before their parents could pull them apart), but in all they were happy. When Amelia was crying as a baby, Pierre would go into her room and sing her back to sleep. And when she’d grown up a bit, Amelia would offer her big brother her chocolate (even if she’d half eaten it first). They’re parents tended to leave them to their own devices most of the time, and the four of them lived happily for a good few years.
None of the family had ever heard of Classic Academy, or ever even been to America, and the idea of a Disney character living inside someone was just preposterous, funny even.
Nevertheless, during Pierre’s childhood, his parents did notice a few odd things about him. For a start, Pierre seemed to have an unnatural obsession with fire. No matter how many times they told him off, he’d always end up back near the candles, trying to touch the little flames (and never seeming to get burnt which was odd). When he was little, they were constantly rushing him to the doctors on account of a sky high temperature, but the doctor could never find anything actually wrong with him. And of course, there was the hair thing, something that became a lot more prominent when he reached puberty. But by that time they had Amelia to deal with, and didn’t really notice his hair changing shade every now and again, blaming it on the lighting or something.
A few years ago, Pierre received his letter from Classic Academy, and instantly tore it up and threw it away. It freaked him out: how on Earth could they know those things? He’d never told anyone some of those things, and the qualities they’d listed were scarily accurate. Plus he liked his life in France, he didn’t want to have to leave everything behind and make a new life in America. But those letters were persistent, and though he kept ignoring them, they kept coming. His parents weren’t very interested in them, thinking they were just a joke, but the persistence forced them to look into this school in more detail. After a few years of ignoring them, when Pierre’s unusual habits were being more and more emphasised in both life and the letters, they eventually gave in. He was fifteen before he finally moved to Memory.
Now, his parents had always been very laid back with their approach to parenting. They were the reason he smoked, drank, stayed out all night and never focused much at school – because they firmly believed he should be ‘allowed to make his own mistakes’ and should ‘learn to be independent’. And since they didn't want to leave France anymore than Pierre did, they went out on a week’s holiday with him to settle him in to his new school and new life, and then left him there to cope alone, going back to live in Lyon without him. Pierre wasn’t happy with this, but there wasn’t much he could do about it. It’s forced him to be independent, and you’d think it would make him act more grown-up. But no, not really, he’s still immature for the most part, he just knows how to take care of himself when he needs to.
DISNEY CHARACTER: Lumiere
ABILITIES/ATTRIBUTES: Pierre can control fire. Kind of obvious when you think Lumiere is a candelabra. He can blast it from his hands the same way Lumiere can from the candles in the place of his hands. At the moment though, since Lumiere isn’t awake, Pierre can’t use this. However, soon he’ll be able to make small flames dance on the tips of his fingers, and when Lumiere awakens fully, he’ll have complete control over any type of fire he likes.
Attributes-wise, as I’ve mentioned before, Pierre and Lumiere are very similar. They are both very confident, theatrical, charismatic, friendly, funny and charming. And probably a few other things too.
DESCRIPTION: At the moment, Lumiere is similar to Pierre’s conscience. At the moment, he isn’t awake yet, but very occasionally, particularly when Pierre’s faced with a big, potentially dangerous decision where he could easily make the wrong choice, (for example one of his friends suggesting he try drugs, or steal a car, or any of the other things most of us would easily say no to), he’ll get a very strong urge to decline, when he would have previously agreed. This is Lumiere’s influence, but Pierre himself can’t explain where this is coming from.
When Lumiere fully awakes, he will be the one to calm Pierre down. The sophisticated Frenchman wants to teach the wild teenager how to behave in public, how to talk to adults, how to drink in moderation, how to say no, how to focus on his schoolwork when it’s needed, how to treat his dates properly, how… well basically how he should behave, talk and act maturely. Because let’s face it, someone needed to teach him those things.
At the moment, Pierre has no idea who his Disney character is…Well, that’s not completely true. His letter did suggest that things like his odd hair and blushes were connected to his character, and that his fascination with fire, and his charisma were connected to it too (those letters were spookily accurate when talking about his traits), but he still just can’t quite get to grips with it all. He hasn’t linked any of those things to the actual identity of his character, mainly because he’s still trying to block out the fact he has a Disney person living in him. It doesn’t sound normal does it?
It is likely Pierre won’t be too keen on Lumiere when he does actually awake: after all, it will look like the candelabra is trying to take all the fun out of his life, and Pierre will not be a fan of that. However, once he realises this is all for the best and Lumiere is actually just trying to help him, he will probably accept him, and the two will get on very well. After all, Lumiere can be very skilled with the ladies, and though Pierre will most likely make fun of him at first, he’ll eventually listen to his tips, and maybe learn how to make a relationship last longer than a week (which is a part of his life he’d be quite keen to improve).
As for the movie, since Lumiere was quite independent then, he has no passionate urge to do anything in particular. That is, until perhaps he meets both Belle and the Beast. Then he will most likely try his best to get them together, purely because it’s the right thing to do.
YOUR NAME: Loki
YOUR AGE:
YOUR RP EXPERIENCE: Three or four years. Or something.
YOUR SAMPLE: Why that insolent- John couldn’t help but snicker; partly at the boy’s surprisingly angry response to his question, and partly at Jafar’s indignation at being spoken to that way. He had to physically grit his teeth to stop Jafar yelling out some angry retort that would most likely have started with ‘Do you know who you’re talking to?’ and ended with ‘pathetic street rat’. Because apparently that was the only insult Jafar could come up with under pressure; he wasn't exactly eloquent when his emotions got the better of him.
The smirk remained on his face long after his laughter had stopped. “Oh, I am sorry,” he droned, sarcasm dripping from his voice as he let Jafar control his words to get a little bit of revenge for the boy’s attitude. “I didn’t realise how important sitting very still in the grass was to young people nowadays, Please, continue.” He waved a hand at him, signalling him to go back to his meditation, and turned round to walk away.
He only took a couple of steps before stopping and turning back to him, one eyebrow raised with the smirk still implanted on his lips in an almost teasing way, as though he was waiting for the boy to call him back. “Of course,” he added, back in control of his own voice now, “if you did fancy talking to someone a little more exciting than yourself, I’d be happy to offer my services. Though I don’t doubt you probably enjoy your own company, at least more than anyone else does if you speak to them the way you just did to me.” Though that jibe was mostly for fun (just a bit of humour on John’s part), he did intend to get the message across that he wouldn’t tolerate behaviour like that, even if John had worded it in quite an arrogant way. He was quite a bit more cocky than Jafar, but the two of them both enjoyed toying with their… prey, so Jafar never really reeled him back for reactions such as this one. John could almost feel him rolling his eyes though.
Was that really necessary? Jafar asked, once John had finished his little show.
Weeeell, probably not, but it was fun.
I’ll do the rest of the talking, shall I?
If you must, John replied with a sigh, thrusting his hands into his trouser pockets, making sure his jacket was safely over his arm before doing so. He couldn’t help but notice that the young man was staring rather intently at him. It was slightly hypocritical of him to be bothered by this, since it was exactly what John had been doing only a minute earlier, but he was kind of hoping he would look away soon, or at least speak.
The boy seemed to realise his social error and looked a little embarrassed. ”I'm sorry. I was curious is all. Are you...are you a teacher?” That was all? He was trying to work out his occupation? The easiest way would have been to ask rather than stare, which, to be fair to him, was what he was doing now. John’s expression softened slightly and his smirk became more of a smile. Remembering what they’d decided on earlier, he let Jafar word the next part of the conversation, though in all honesty he probably would have said the same thing. “Yes actually, I teach Sorcery at Classic Academy. Professor John Far, pleased to meet you. And who do I have the pleasure of addressing?” He almost stumbled over the word ‘pleasure’, not sure that was the right word to describe this encounter. Nevertheless, he held out his hand for the young man to shake, partly hoping he would have the manners to stand up but not holding out much hope on that front.
