- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - BELLS, BELLS, BELLS i need more bells.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sophie was still adjusting to life in Memory and handling the fact that she was a host for a Disney character, plus being deaf, made making friends in the small town difficult. If it weren't for the fact that she attends Harmony College, the likely hood that she would have meet Rocky Meeker so soon would have been zero to none. Sophie received a letter on the day she moved in to town from Harmony College, requesting she go down to the administrative building the next day at 10am to set up a class schedule and meet her interrupter. When Sophie arrived the next day, she was wondering what old person the school could find to sign her classes to her, but the sight in front of her was shocking to say the least. An average height male with slightly shaggy brown hair and full brown eyes was leaning against the counter. The boy looked to be about Sophie's age, sometime in his early twenties. Tinkerbell approved of the boy with a silver sigh and thinking maybe he was Peter's host.
Sophie waved and signed her name, hoping the boy was her interrupter, other wise she would just look dumb. Luckily for her, he signed back, stating his name was Rocky. The pleasantries and introductions took off without a hitch, each sharing things about themselves so that the situation wasn't very awkward. Rocky explained how he had a deaf relative and he was glad to be able to help Sophie out.
The two set up a schedule for Sophie that matched Rocky's in the standard courses, but differed in the arts classes, since Sophie had decided to become an art major, while Rocky was a history major. Sophie took her art classes when Rocky had breaks so that he would be free to help her.Their friendship started beautifully and Sophie couldn't have asked for a better person to spend so much time with. Rocky offered to help her with any work or anything really. She was glad that Rocky was making her adjustment to Memory as easy as possible. Walking into her backyard, Sophie made sure her neighbors weren't watching or lurking about, before leaving her log style cabin and taking off for the skies and Rocky's house. While neither the walk nor the fly was very long, Sophie preferred flying to walk since Tinkerbell gave her the ability to fly. She landed gracefully at Rocky's front door just a few seconds after take off, ready to study History. Sophie raised her left hand with her charm bracelet tinkling and gleaming in the sun as she knocked on the door, waiting for Rocky to answer.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I'D HAVE TO SAY IT'S NEW TO ME, THIS FEELING IN MY HEART guess i've been kind of lonely and you've been kind of smart- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "You're lucky Sophie's not here to see what foul language you have, Dolly," Rocky signed quickly to his sister over the videophone. "From what I've heard about her from you, I doubt she'd mind," Dolly signed back, scrunching up her nose and laughing. Rocky smiled at his sister, remembering how Sophie seemed to be able to handle only one emotion at a time, and when she was feeling devious... Well, Rocky rather enjoyed her devious side. Highly entertaining.
There was a knock at the door then, one Rocky had been expecting, and the characteristic jingle of a bracelet confirmed Sophie had arrived. "That's her now. I'll talk to you later," he rushed in his goodbyes, hardly giving Dolly the chance to wave back. He clicked off the videophone and made for the door, a smile on his face. Hey, he was a smiley kind of guy! There wasn't any other reason for him to beaming at the thought of Sophie coming over to study. Honest.
"Hi, come in!" Rocky signed with a grin, stepping back to let Sophie through the door to his tiny little house. Gosh was this her first time over? He couldn't even remember. He'd only met her recently, having been assigned as her interpreter (seeing as he knew how to sign and the school didn't have to pay him), but in that brief time he felt like he'd really grown close to Sophie. He definitely considered her a close friend... But why had she never been over before? Rocky's smile slipped a moment as he thought about it, chalking up the reasons to his impulsiveness, the fact that he was rarely home and had a peculiarly unpredictable sleep schedule. It wasn't like he was nervous having her over or anything.
"You have your books, or are we using mine?" he signed awkwardly with one hand as he closed the door with the other. Frankly, one-handed signing for him was like the equivalent or talking with half his face numb (and after getting his wisdom teeth out six years ago, he knew how that was, too). Laughing, he turned back to her and, using both hands now, continued with "Because all my stuff's on the floor in my room. I... don't think we'll ever see them again." When Rocky signed the word for "bedroom" he used the sign for nest, because really that's what it looked like. Like a ratty old bird's nest, or something a rodent would burrow in. He only hoped Sophie would pick up on the joke and not think he was really sleeping in a nest...

When he got it open, he rushed his signs, but it didn't matter to her, over the years with her brother, their signing had become rushed or lazy, Sophie learned to understand with half signs or missing signs. She couldn't help but laugh at how excited but nervous Rocky seemed. As she laughed, her bracelet starting shaking, while Rocky starting asking her if she had her books. "Because all my stuff's on the floor in my room. I... don't think we'll ever see them again." She saw that he used the sign for nest and she couldn't help but continue to laugh. "Nest? What an odd sign to use. Although, I guess it's better than pig stay or a tree." Sophie signed back just as quickly, but with a warm smile on her face. "We can use my books, wouldn't want you to get lost in your nest." Her bracelet still chiming even after she had finished signing. "Where did you want to study?" She asked while looking around the small house. Sophie noticed a small desk in the entry way with a videophone along with a chair, a little further down she saw the end of a couch and maybe a coffee table. She gestured to what looked like a living room area as a suggestion to study for the history test coming up. One thing Sophie was not particularly good at was remembering dates in history, especially early American history. Tinkerbell knew some British history but not American, anything Neverland and Tink was Sophie's girl, but her college history class didn't teach anything about Neverland. Sophie sighed, thinking about how doomed she was for this test.

Rocky grinned stupidly and shrugged -- it was true. His room was more like a nest than anything else, and referring to it as such only made sense. There was no bed frame, just a mattress on the floor. Sheets were unheard of, replaced instead by piles of blankets arranged in a fluffy circle in the middle of his bed, some spilling out onto the ground. There were books and clothes and other detritus all over the floor and the one other piece of furniture Rocky had in his room, a low table. The table was covered in paper plates and empty soda bottles, candy wrappers and unopened mail... And it was probably within everyone's best interest that his closet doors always remain shut. He couldn't even remember what was in it anymore, and he wasn't about to paw around and find out.
"Yeah, living room's fine," Rocky signed when he saw Sophie gesturing to it, the bracelet around her wrist jingling as if in question. It was weird how those bells almost sounded like they were talking sometimes. But, brushing it off, Rocky led the way into living room and thanked his lucky stars that the rest of the house wasn't as messy as his bedroom. I mean it wasn't sparklingly clean and there was a lot of clutter (what could he say, he liked to collect things!), mostly in the form of acorns and sea glass and just... stuff he found outside. "Sit anywhere," he offered, but then Sophie sighed dismally. "You okay?" He asked, his fingers quickly forming the letters O and K, concern written on his face.
