CONSTANT HAYDEN WELLS
FULL NAME: Constant Hayden Wells
NICK NAME: Genie, Con, Constant
AGE: 25
GRADE OR OCCUPATION: Flying/levitation teacher at Classic Academy
ORIENTATION: Bisexual, but not generally interested (though he has his moments)
FACE CLAIM: Kaiden Blake
EYE COLOR: Blue
HAIR COLOR: Blue, changes at will
HEIGHT AND WEIGHT: 5'10'', slim
DESCRIPTION: Genie's basically made out of magic, so it's hard to really pinpoint his appearance. He has a habit of changing his hair and eye color, height, weight and over all physical appearance (ever since he learned how to change all that, that is), but right now he's kind of diggin' the long blue hair and bright blue eyes. Aladdin's Genie has his ear pierced, but Memory's Genie has his septum pierced instead (though he doesn't always wear the nose ring). He likes to dress fashionably (because anything is better than the shirtless/MC HAMMER pants combo the Genie's got going on in the movie), and the professional dress code at Classic Academy, usually strictly enforced for staff, is pretty relaxed around Constant - it's good to have an in with ol' Merlin. Part of his dress code includes three things that he will never take off, even in the shower or bed. He wears two gold cuff bracelets, one on each arm, about half an inch wide and fitted to the exact size of each wrist. Around his neck is a peculiar piece of jewelry: attached to a long chain is a tiny (about an inch big) brass oil lamp pendant. This pendant can grow in size if removed from the chain, but Constant never takes it off... Though it would probably spell certain doom if he lost it.
PERSONALITY: One word: Big. Big personality. Constant is wild and zany and funny like his counter part, the Genie, always has been. Even despite personal tragedies and a bit of an inconsistent childhood, Constant's always been able to pull a smile and make himself feel better. He's quick with a joke and lives off laughs, and he has a penchant for pulling stunts if only to get attention. On the surface, the boy seems a bit shallow and ditzy, doing only what will amuse him and others.
But there are other sides to Constant that are a bit deeper than jokes and pranks and being loud and happy. Constant is smart and incredibly quick-witted. He adapts easily to situations, and will do anything he can to help steer a situation down the right path, except when he knows for a fact that he can't. Often times he is unable to prevent bad things happening, and is also sometimes, unfortunately, part of the mayhem caused. He doesn't like causing trouble, in fact he loathes it, but sometimes there is absolutely nothing he can do.
Constant is also fiercely loyal to those who strive to do and be good. He's got a bit of a servant complex which may occasionally be misinterpreted as "loyal," but if you're a good guy, chances are his feelings are genuine. But back to servant complex: Constant's bit of a rough childhood taught him that the only way to survive was to put a smile on your face and do as you're told. As such, he's obedient to a fault, and in the past people have often exploited that fact.
Also, Constant has the use of nearly unlimited magic (obviously there are some things he can't do - raise people from the dead, make people fall in love, etc), but he also has the good sense of when to use it. He doesn't exploit his magic but others often do.
HOMETOWN: Memory, Maine
FAMILY MEMBERS: None known
HISTORY: Constant doesn't know who his biological family is, having been put up for adoption at birth - his only possessions two tiny gold bracelets and an oil lamp necklace. He doesn't much care to go looking for parents either: Constant Hayden Wells has had more than enough of parents and family for a hundred lifetimes.
His first foster family was probably pleasant enough, but Constant doesn't remember them. They gave him away after four years for reasons he can't remember, and after the first family was The Second Family.
The Second Family, Constant's masters from age 4 to 12 were hardly decent people. The parents were all smiles and charm on the outside, but they made Constant's home life a living hell. The Genie had awoken inside Constant the moment he experimentally put on the bracelets he had had since birth, and, excited about his newfound abilities, made the foolish mistake of telling his foster parents. Seeing his new abilities as a way to make their lives better, they greedily discovered the loopholes around the limitations of his power and exploited his magic. Given to him at birth, along with the bracelets, was a curious little pendant that seemed to control his powers. Coupled with the bracelets (which, as it happened, wouldn't come off after Constant put them on), whoever held the lamp obtained three wishes of Constant, which he was forced to grant. First one parent would possess the lamp, then the other, and by passing the lamp back and forth between them, they were never out of wishes.
Eight years of this had quite an effect on Constant, who was forced to grant every wish with a smile and happy "Your wish is my command!" The power struggle only made him yearn for freedom, or at least long to get out of this house. Eventually (through child protection services) Constant was passed to a new house, and he had a chance to start over.
But it wasn't like the town of Memory was huge. The whole town knew and loved Constant, and it wasn't long before word of his ability got around. His next family treated him in much the same manner, and the next, until finally, on his eighteenth birthday, Constant was able to escape.
But there was no where to go. A few days after Constant had made arrangements to share a house with four other guys, he got a letter at his brand new address. It said what he went through with his families was an important part of shaping his character, and that it was necessary. It also invited him to attend the local college, but with no money to his name, Con knew that was out of the question. But the letter was signed Merlin, so he thought he'd give his old high school headmaster a ring and see why it was so "necessary" for him to suffer.
What he got, instead, was a job offer.
"Flying teacher, oh, you're kidding me, Merlin," he had said, completely dumbfounded. Merlin said he knew Constant's story, and that he was only trying to help him out. "Call it a personal favor, Constant," Merlin had said. "Get your degree, and come see me in four yea-" "Degree in what exactly?!" Flying? Levitation? Those weren't exactly majors offered at Harmony College, but the sorcery position at the Academy was filled. Nevertheless, Constant agreed, and four years later he started working at the Academy.
Now in his third year of teaching, Constant's found a sort of peace. He's in complete control of himself as he never goes anywhere without his lamp (and the bracelets on his wrists don't come off anyway, but rather expand in size if he grows). He's currently in search of Aladdin but honestly isn't putting much effort into the search - if he find Aladdin, it'll only mean Jafar's not far behind...
DISNEY CHARACTER: Genie from Aladdin
ABILITIES/ATTRIBUTES: Flight, nearly unlimited magic
DESCRIPTION: Like the Genie in the movie, Genie can fly and use magic, with few limitations. If anyone gets ahold of his lamp, though, he will have to grant them three wishes and stay in their company at all times (which would make going to work a challenge).
Also, another thing: Constant Hayden Wells is not Constant's real name. Most everyone in town knows him and what spirit he hosts and calls him Genie anyway, so the matter of his real name is of little importance to them.
YOUR NAME: Kate
YOUR AGE: 19
YOUR RP EXPERIENCE: Forever
YOUR SAMPLE: Waves of emotions rolled over Shere, anger, amusement, impatience. Flash had a nasty, anooying little habit of getting right under Shere's skin, and the tiger and human alike were in no kind of mood to humor the parrot any longer. But with a forced chuckle at the end of Flash's little tirade, Shere grinned at the man, locking eyes once more, before dropping his hands to his sides.
He straightened up and absently began cracking his knuckles, though the way the gesture must have affected Flash was by no means lost on Shere. He enjoyed the strained silence for a while, reveling in Flash's absence of words (honestly, Shere didn't quite think it possible). "I'm hardly to be congratulated on figuring out your unfortunate character, you see," Shere said after a moment but still never letting Flash out of his sight, "it wasn't terribly difficult to assume you had one. Most every who lives in this, what did you call it? 'One horse town' has a spirit locked up inside their heads, and from the obvious way you were acting.Well. It was hardly leaps and bounds from there." Shere gave Flash an amused look, chuckling at the man's naivety before reaching out to pat him in mock affection on the cheek.
Nicely done, Human, Shere Khan piped up after that, returning to the background voice in Shere's head. Shere felt the tiger's spirit slither out of his throat and teeth and eyes, and, blinking away the feeling, nodded to himself in acknowledgment. Though I suppose it took you long enough. Not wanting to point out that Shere Khan had hardly been any help in the matter, Shere wisely remained quiet on that part, but instead changed the subject. You're right, Shere though back to the tiger, We did it. He's our now.
At least until we find Jafar.
Shere Khan hissed deafeningly at that so that Shere winced a little, but blocked out Shere Khan's voice as much as he could. "Run along now, Flash," Shere said in his normal voice now, the richness gone from his tone. "I'm sure I'll see you again, and... I hope your day goes better." The grin on his face was ferocious, but Shere didn't harm Flash further as he took a step away from the man, opening the exit to him. He let Flash almost make it out the door before adding one last thing:
"Oh, and Flash," Shere called, not turning around to look at his neighbor but knowing he was listening all the same, "I wouldn't go telling any one about this..." He reached out his hand so that Flash could see it from the doorway, but where his fingernails would have been were instead impossibly long, sharp and dangerous-looking claws.
"Understand?"
