Sleep was one of the things Ariel liked the most. This was especially true when she had the day off. Pulling her pillow over her head to block the rays of the sun and snuggle deeper into the covers, Ariel took a deep breath and continued to snooze. It wasn't often that she'd give herself a break, seeing as she wanted to keep her spirit occupied and keep her from annoying her into finding Eric and finishing this storyline. It wasn't until she had noticed herself starting to lose her grip on things in the store that she decided she was going to take the week off. It had been a long day and Ariel hadn't taken a break and she almost broke one of her favorite pieces. That was the breaking point and she finally needed to take the week off.
Hearing her cellphone vibrate in alarm on her bedside table, the redhead groaned and smacked around the table until she finally got a grip on the device and pulled it beneath her pillow. She was not a big fan of alarm clocks, so she used her phone instead. The redhead rolled out of bed within minutes and jumped up to brush her hair out and put a cap on to cover her bedhead. She threw on one of her old shirts, a pair of jeans, and her old sneakers as she grabbed her phone and purse and ran out the door.
She promised herself that on her time off she would go out and explore around Memory to keep her mind busy, and today she decided to go to the outer farms. Arielle got rather bored on her time off, so she used that time to fill her curious mind with some new skills. Mostly languages. Ariel had always been fascinated with human history, so her host took great pride in learning other languages to keep her spirit happy. That, and it was a great skill that was one of many her father taught the girls while they were homeschooled. It didn't help the whole 'spoiled rich kid' persona that she tried to avoid, but regardless, she was happy that she had that in her back pocket. It came in handy when a man came up to her and started speaking to her in hurried Italian. She isn't able to retain much of languages since Ariel was so ADD, but she knew enough to get by.
Wandering along the fields, the redhead stuck her hands in her pockets as she looked around. They had all kinds of food around here-even things they didn't sell in the general store. Maybe she could get some shopping done while she was here! Fresh food was always better anyway.
OOC: sorry if this is an awkward intro, Didn't really want her to like, fall onto Sophie or anything.

It was just another bright and sunny spring day for Sophie at the farm. Her fields were doing beautifully. All ten acres were flourishing were growing fruit trees, vegetable plants and budding flowers. Having flown over to the farms just before sunrise, Sophie was beginning to run low on energy, even though it was only getting close to mid-day.
The nice thing about working in the fields was the quick and easy access to fresh tasty foods. After finishing up staking and tying the tomato vines, Sophie spun around and took to the skies as her sparkling translucent wings began to flutter. It had taken Sophie a few weeks to get comfortable with the wings just sprouting from her back, but now she felt strange with out them. Her flight control was still a bit of work in progress. She got take off and land with out a problem, but flying with wind currents was still tricky. She often got swept and push in directions she didn't necessarily wish to go in. This morning however, Sophie had little trouble navigating herself over to the apple orchard where using her nature magic caused one of the apple flowers to bloom and grow into a perfectly rip golden delicious apple.
As Sophie floated down to rest on one of the tree's branches to rest and eat, she went through the list of tasks she still needed to complete for the day. The first flower patch on the right of the walking path leading into the fields needed some weeding taken care of, as well at the vegetable patch across from it. The corn field needed to be watered, actually all the fields needed to be watered. The little grapefruit trees needed to be staked so that the wind didn't uproot them before they matured. She still needed to start the different grape vines growing on the trellises she built last week. Taking her last bite of the apple and throwing the cord to the ground, Sophie took to the air again heading towards the hose and watering system.
Watering ten acres of land would be a huge and difficult task if there wasn't a hose and watering system as big and good as the one Sophie had and if Sophie didn't have the ability to fly over the field. The hose was a magical hose which would automatically expand to reach every place that it was needed. Turing on the faucet and grabbing the end of the hose, Sophie began watering the back fields and working her way forward. The only down side to the magic hose was it got water everywhere, even on the footpaths because there was no way for Sophie to turn the water on and off mid-flight. Having finished watering all the fields, Sophie landed on the now muddy path next to the first flower patch.

As she walked, Arielle noticed a shadow flying around the fields. Raising an eyebrow, the redhead looked up to see a girl around her age flying around with a pair of wings that seemed to have sprouted from her back. Her blue eyes widened at the sight, following the flying girl until she floated down to the muddy ground after newly watering the crops around her.
The whole thing was rather intriguing, her inner Ariel waking up long enough to process a little of what was going on and all she could do was applaud the girl's abilities. It was fascinating, watching people with other spirits use their abilities. All she could do was water related and turning into a mermaid wasn't as useful as one would think. If the world flooded, she'd be set. Other than that, she was kind of screwed. "You should go meet her~! She's got an awesome talent! She flies like the birds do! Let's go make friends with her!" Ariel chirped in her host's mind, causing the woman to chuckle lightly, but nod in response as she started to walk again.
As Arielle approached the girl, she felt the warmth of the sun upon her skin, causing her fiery red hair to give off a soft glow as a result. She smiled, waving to the girl as she approached, hoping she did not startle her too bad. "That was amazing!" she chirped, clearly impressed by the girl's skill and she tilted her head curiously. "What's your name?"
"I wonder what her spirit is..."
"I dunno, but I don't want to freak her out... So if she tells us, fine. If not then we leave her alone. Got it?"
"Geez, you're bossy."
"Didn't we learn from the last few years of living here that you can't just go around asking people what their spirits are? It freaks them out. We just got lucky that your forward behavior didn't scare away all our friends."
"I'm not a child! I know!
Arielle shook her head in amusement, chuckling a bit at her spirit's antics, but she looked back to the girl once again. She hoped that the other girl didn't notice how odd she was acting. Then again, if the girl possessed a spirit, then she would probably understand what she was going through.

Sophie looked at her sprouting sunflowers checking for how much weeding needed to be taken care of in the first row of the flower patch. When spring hit its peak and all the flowers bloom, this first patch was going to be the very brightly colored. There were rows of sunflowers, black-eyed susans, purple pansies, morning glories, lilies, white daisies, pink roses, yellow roses, red roses, white rose, even a small amount of poppies. Sophie let out a sigh at how beautiful her flowers would come out.
"You know, you could just use my gift and make the flowers bloom now.""I know I could, but I really don't want to use your magic all the time. Sometimes it's more rewarding to wait and watch things grow naturally."
Sophie thumbed the little green sprout she was knelling next to. She couldn't help from a little smile forming as she looked over the patch once more, letting the hose in her left hand hang at her side, still pouring water onto the path. Since working in fields meant working in mud, Sophie never wore shoes instead leaving her shoes back in the gardening tool shed at the front of the property.
Standing back up, Sophie wiggled her toes in the mud surrounding her feet. She loved the way the mud was swished and squeezed through her toes, it reminded her of long ago days as a child playing with Josh out in the rain. Looking down at her tan thigh length skirt and light green checker button down shirt, she saw that nothing had really changed since then. She was still covered in dirt and partially wet. As Sophie was looking at the ground, she saw the pool of water rippling, indicating that the ground was moving or something was moving on the ground. Since she was no longer moving herself, Sophie spun around causing the hose to spray water everywhere, including the red head that had her arm raised in what seemed to be a greeting.
"Oh man, I forgot to shut the hose off."Sophie thought while Tinkerbell simply flashed Ha Ha across her mind in a rapid fire way, showing Sophie that she thought this girl getting hosed down was the best thing that happened since coming to Memory.
Sophie dropped the hose to the ground causing her to stand in a growing pool of water, while trying to convey how sorry she was, although looking at person wet head from toe, was kind of funny.

Ariel was used to catching other people by surprise. It was something she did. Kind of amusing. Rarely did someone else catch her with her guard down these days. Needless to say, when the girl caught her by surprise with the hose, Ariel was at first shocked, but soon she felt herself bust out laughing. Her laughter shook her to her core, causing the girl to double over as she was soaked. At least she wasn't the only one surprised.
Feeling the water eventually stop soaking her, Ariel looked up at the girl, still giggling like a fiend, and she shook her fiery mane much like a dog to try and get some of the water out. She noticed the short-haired girl start to show signs of how sorry she was, the girl was so distracted by wringing out her hair with a grin that she quickly made the universal sign that she was alright. Pulling her cap off her head and running her hand through her hair, she sighed and took a deep breath of fresh air, replacing her cap soon after.
"Refreshing!" she chirped, shaking her head and turning to the apologetic, but slightly amused, looking girl before her. "Don't even worry about it. It was kinda hot outside anyway, I needed it. Thanks."
"I don't think she's gonna talk to you"
"You mean 'us'?"
"Nope. I mean you, bossy pants."
"What are you, five?"
"NO! I'm sixteen years old! I'M NOT A CHILD!
"GEEZ. Start acting like an adult if you want me to treat you like one! Oh lord I sound like my father."
"Worse. You sound like MY father.
"Oh don't even go there."
Tilting her head carefully at the girl, Ariel held out a hand to shake in greeting and smiled. "I'm Arielle. It's nice to meet you...."

Sophie was expecting the girl to be upset because it looked like she was a girl that wouldn't play in the mud all that often. However when Sophie saw her start laughing she knew that she hadn't offended the redhead. Sophie shook her outstretched hand while reading her lips to understand that the redhead's name was Arielle.
Sophie smiled at Arielle using her left hand to sign S-O-P-H-I-E after she had finished forming the 'E' her hand rounded into a fist with her thumb laying on top of her closed fingers forming the letter S. She then took her fist and dragged it from the corner of her left eye to the corner of her mouth, using the sign for girl with the hand shape of S instead the normal hand shape that was used to sign girl. Sophie hoped this girl could understand her because she wasn't much in the mood of having to slow her signs down or needing to grow a bunch of yellow dandelions to spell out her messages. She had a lot of work to do on the farm before she could leave at sun-set that afternoon.
"Maybe she wants to get some stuff for the store or for herself. Haven't we seen her leaving locking the general store up on some of our night flies?"
"Maybe. I hope that's all she's here for, have you seen the amount of weeding I have to do?"
"You could safe herself a lot of time if you just used my magic to make the weeds retreat back into the ground."
Sophie simply ignored Tinkerbell's last comment and focused back on Arielle. In the puddle of mud surrounding them, Sophie caused dandelions to sprout to spell out, "Can I help you with anything?"

Ariel watched carefully as the girl responded in sign language-something that Ariel had learned awhile ago from her father when she got a particularly horrid case of laryngitis and could not communicate with others very well. She was not as good as she'd like to be, but she could understand it. She could hold her own for a little bit, but after she got comfortable signing she could do it for the most part. She'd just fumble with her words every once in awhile. Ariel was never really a fan of learning other languages. She would always fumble in her speech and pronounce something wrong, but then again sign language did not require specific accents. Just a lot of memorization and hand motions. Not that big of a deal. "Nice to meet you, Sophie." she signed, using the girl's name sign with a nod and a smile.
Ariel sensed the magic in use as she saw something yellow poke up from the mud in the corner of her eye. Reading the flowers, Ariel thought how to sign back, and shrugged as she turned back to Sophie and shrugged. "I was just exploring a bit, I'll probably go get some things later. Saw you working, would you like some help?"
"I'm going to guess she's a fairy of some sort. I've seen those around before"
"Really now? There were fairies in the ocean?"
"Well, I saw them in the human world. How did you learn that language with your hands?"
"Oh. Well I used to get laryngitis a lot and Daddy decided instead of letting me write down what I want I'd have to sign it. One of his many languages he wanted my sisters and I to learn."
"Interesting. Can you teach me sometime?
"Aren't you able to do it since you're technically me?"
"Kind of. I'd still like to learn
"Well, we'll see. I dunno."

Sophie was hoping that the Arielle girl would go away once the girl realized that Sophie couldn't hear her, making communicating difficult if she didn't know how to sign. However Sophie was moderately shocked and surprised when the redhead started signing back to her. Sophie hadn't meet anyone in town that could sign fluently with her and by the looks of Arielle's signs, she still hadn't met someone that could.
After spending years learning American Sign Language with her brother Josh and mother, Sophie took a lot pride her in language. Not many hearing people took American Sign Language seriously, which really annoyed Sophie. There was a reason why the word language is at the end of the phrase. If the English Language was a language than so was American Sign Language, that's how Sophie saw it. It took a lot of understanding how the language worked before you become really good at it. Just like the English Language has grammar, sentence structure, nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc. American Sign Language had most of the same concepts. American Sign Language is a picture language, you don't sign the words they way you would write them in the English Language, you sign them how the picture would make the most sense. Sure, American Sign Language is somewhat difficult to learn at first, which is why Sophie took it easy on beginners, but this girl didn't look like a beginner.
Sophie watched as Arielle's hands somewhat awkwardly formed the hand positions she needed in order to form the correct words. Although Sophie could understand what Arielle was trying to get at, her body language expressed a way of uncaring about how she signed or what she signed. Which irked Sophie a little because body language is a huge part of the language. The way Arielle shrugged while replying showed Sophie how much this girl didn't belong on her farm. Sophie is a very bubbly, friendly person who runs with her emotions, but this girl was so indifferent to her it was nearing beyond annoying.
Forcing herself to smile and be friendly, Sophie began to sign back, very fluently. Using all her body language, facial expressions and hand shapes to accurately relay her message, which after 20 some odd years, was really first nature to her. Standing straighter and smiling wider, Sophie let her hands dance their dance, showing Arielle what it really meant to sign her language.
"Oh, you know American Sign Language? Wonderful. I thought I was alone here being deaf. How long have you been learning American Sign Language? You look shaky and disjointed in motions."
Sophie stood back and continued to smile at the obviously naive girl. "Man, you are passionate about this. Reminds me of myself going after Wendy. Have I mentioned how glad I am to have you as host lately?"
"Thanks Tink. I'm not perfect but passionate, I am."

"Ari! Pay attention! You're pissing her off!"
Ariel jolted visibly as her spirit chastised her. That was the first time the mermaid had snapped at her. She rubbed her head slightly, recovering from her spirit's outburst, but soon she saw the expression cross Sophie's features before she signed back to her. The redhead watched closely as the girl asked her a few questions, nodding in response as she waited for Sophie to finish in her usual patient manner. Smiling once again, the redhead allowed herself to be completely immersed in the language, actually putting effort into it with her body language and speaking the words as she signed them to help herself get a little more comfortable. "I apologize, Sophie. I get distracted with my spirit talking to me and I did not realize I was being rude. Please forgive me," she signed, her expression drooping in shame as she felt she insulted the short-haired girl. That was the last thing she wanted to do. She liked making friends, but she always ended up putting her foot into her mouth somehow. "Having a teenager in your head is very distracting, but that is no excuse for my behavior. I need to stop letting my mind wander."
"When I was younger, I would get bad cases of laryngitis every year and my father insisted I learn so I can still communicate what I needed. I have not used it in awhile, so I am a little rusty with the signs..." she smiled sheepishly. "I don't want to mess up, so I get a little awkward when I sign since I'm so out of practice."
She hoped that Sophie wasn't too insulted. Thankfully Ariel came in handy at times when her host was being too oblivious to realize when she was coming off as a prick to people. It was not something she did on purpose, it just happened when she was spacing out. Her weight shifted so that her hip popped out slightly into a more comfortable position as she waited for Sophie to answer, a more comfortable smile crossing her features in the process.
"Good girl! Now hopefully we didn't screw up too bad and she doesn't hate us."
"That's it. I'm not cussing in front of you anymore. You're gonna get as bad as me."

Sophie tried not to look down(or rather up) on this redhead for her abilities in signing, but that the hard part of her emotions, especially being the host for Tinkerbell. If there was one major downside to playing host for Tinkerbell, it was the fact that fairies can not express more than one emotion at a time. If Sophie was upset, Tinkerbell was upset at a higher level. If Sophie was happy, Tinkerbell was ecstatic. Most times Sophie was okay with Tinkerbell causing her emotions to be volatile, but other times like this, it was a bit difficult.
While Arielle seemed to be sincere in her apology and explanation, there was still something that was causing Sophie to be unsettled by her. Maybe it was because Tinkerbell was still reacting to Sophie's anger or maybe she really just wanted to get back to work and be done with this girl, Sophie really couldn't say. As Sophie looked at Arielle's face, catching her signs in her peripheral vision, she had to keep struggle to keep a polite smile on her face or else she would have scoffed at her. How does one lose their voice a lot to laryngitis as a kid? Sounds like this girl should have been kept in a sterile room for most of her life. Tell me what you really think Soph. I'm sure this girl would love to hear your opinions. Oh be quite. If you could transition between emotions more smoothly, maybe I could think and react a little more rationally. Sophie focused back on Arielle and began responding to their conversation. "I'm sorry to hear that you were sick as a child. I'll try to slow down my signs for you. I don't need any help in fields, but I can help you get want you need. Did the General Store not have what you need?" Sophie hoped she was coming across as polite, but she was struggling with caring about if she was polite or not. She really wished fairies could handle emotions better than they did.
