Still sitting beside her, Ray watched Alice's response, which was less than encouraging. "Well gee thanks alot Alice. Way to ruin the mood 'ole ye of little faith," he said sarcastically. Then slipping off her bed, he whipped around towards her. "Alice, relax, will ya? I'm the Cheshire Cat. I mean come on, I think I know what I am doing," he informed her, voice filled with pride and confidence.
At her next question, he began to pace around the room, looking thoughtful. "Hold on, I'm thinking. Thinking of a plan, so it most certainly is not it!" Ray reassured her as he paced.
Then at last he got a plan and abruptly stopped walking and turned and looked back at Alice. "I got it! We'll throw a tea party of a sorts right here in our dorm and we'll invite all the students! The tea party shall be casual and relaxed and not to mention fun. We'll serve tea of course along with some snacks. And at long last we shall finally bring some culture into this culture wasteland," he told her excitedly. He was so excited in fact, he was speaking quickly, hardly able to contain his enthusiasm.
Then his lips curved into a mischevious smile. "And with your permission, I think it best if I...hosted. Trust me, I have ways of unlocking your character," he said with a wink. Indeed, Ray did have ways, many ways in fact. Although, some of these ways Alice may not agree with. But, from where he stood, Ray hardly cared. All he wanted to do was unlock Alice's character and he didn't care how he did it, so long as it got done.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I KNEW YOU YEARS AGO what i was - i don't know- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alice looked lazily over at him again and she raised a brow. "A tea party, in our dorm? The entire second floor of Frollo Hall, jam packed into the common room for a tea party...?" The idea was crazy! It was insane! It was... "Perfect."
Alice grinned at him though not in quite the same fashion as his Cheshire smile. She instantly got up and started walking around the room, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she thought about it. "Yeah, sure, you'll host of course. Dunno where to find Hatter and March in this place, or even if they're our age... Or the Dormouse, for that matter, but I guess that's cool. We'll go it alone!" She cheered, and quite suddenly stopped her pacing to run up to Raymond. Taking both his hands in hers she smiled eagerly at him, saying, "C'mon, we've gotta get down to the dining hall then and steal some stuff."
"What do you have at tea parties besides tea, anyway?" Alice asked as she pulled on Ray's hands, gesturing with her head at the door. "Like, to eat and stuff?" Hey back was to him now and she was halfway out the door when another though entirely took hold of her. She spun around slowly, turning to face him once more, and, her fingers curled to a fist by her mouth and looking too forlorn for her own good, asked him, "Ray... What if it doesn't work, this tea party?"

Ray watched as Alice responded to his idea. All the while he just grinned and nodded, giggling softly to himself, all the while saying, "uh huh uh huh." Then when she approved, saying his crazy idea was, 'perfect,' he jumped up into the air, shouting excitedly, "yes!" But, as he landed softly on the ground below, he calmed down a bit. He cleared his throat, obviously slightly embarassed from looking so excited. But, he just couldn't help himself. He felt certain he had found the Alice, the...correct Alice this time. 'No more mistakes,' he told himself. 'we have found her,' he assured himself and the character within."Uh, that is to say, I am glad you approve," Ray said, his tone, slightly more serious than normal.
Ray relaxed again, seeing as Alice appeared to be just as excited as he was, but maybe even more so. He allowed her to take him by the hand and giggling slightly, he followed her towards the door. Ray smirked when she mentioned stealing things for the party. "Now now, I wouldn't necessarily call it stealing. It's more like borrowing without...asking. But, I doubt anyone would mind since it is being used for a greater cause," he told her rather slyly.
Biting on his lower lip, Ray thought about what kind of tasty treats they should steal er borrow from the dining hall. Looking at her, he just sort of shrugged. "Uh, I don't know. I'm sure we'll find something tasty and appropriate when we get there. No reason to worry over something so petty," Ray calmly answered as he was one of those types who just went with the flow. He didn't like planning ahead. He preferred to be spontaneous and unpredictable.
But at Alice's final question, he frowned. Sighing, he turned to her, obviously somewhat exasperated with her constant fear of not unlocking her character, which was something Ray did not want to hear. He just smiled reassuringly at her. "Alice, trust me it will work. You will unlock the Alice in Wonderland character with my help. I am just sure of it. Now please just relax and stop worrying. Everything's going to be okay. Now then let's go shopping for tea party stuff. We haven't a moment to waste," Ray told her in his sweet voice.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I KNEW YOU YEARS AGO what i was - i don't know- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ray's voice grew suddenly sweet and kind as he reassured her, but Alice wasn't buying it. The exasperation in his tone was a bit obvious, even for someone usually pretty slow-witted like Alice. “Hey, man, “ she warned, turning on him but there was a smile on her lips nevertheless. She wagged her finger in his face, tutting and tsking. “You'd be worried, too, if you'd been in this nut house for four years already and still hadn't heard from your character.” Alice dropped her hand and planted it on her hip instead. “You already know whose spirit you've got. It's totally frustrating being the odd one out.”
Things had turned serious as Alice confessed what was on her mind. She didn't normally go for conversations of this nature – the serious kind – so she tacked on a smile and turned abruptly around again, cutting off whatever Ray's answer to her confession would have been. “But nevermind that! It's off to the kitchens! Man I hope they got cake. Fucking love cake.” Alice was halfway down the hall by this point, her voice echoing off the bare, boring walls. “Wooo, c'mon Ray!” And she sped off down the rest of the hallway and out the door that led to the inner staircase.
Alice had a couple moments to herself while she waited for Ray to catch up, so in the meantime, by herself and so as to not cause Ray any more exasperation on her behalf, she quickly spoke to herself in her head. Alright Alice. Uh, The Alice, I guess... I know you're up there in my head somewhere, so you'd better come out soon, got it? Alice tried to think in a threatening tone, but found it more difficult to manage than she would have imagined. But there was nothing but silence on the other end when she waited for some sort of a reply. Alice huffed and crossed her arms. Fine! Whatever. Be like that. Alice hesitated before adding quietly out loud, “See if I care!”

Feeling slightly guilty for upsetting her, Ray frowned. "I'm sorry, but you don't know how frustrating it is for me to stand here and watch as you constantly worry about not having a character at all when in fact I am most certain that you do," he said, the tone of his voice sounding sincere. "Now please," he said, stepping a little closer towards her, "will you stop being so damn negative all the time and just relax a little bit and enjoy the ride?" He smiled back at her.
Ray sighed in relief when it seemed Alice did take his advice and calmed down a bit. Nodding at her, he followed her out of the room and down the staircase. "Okay. Hold on Alice. I'm a coming," Ray shouted after her. To himself he thought, 'man she sure is fast.'
As he climbed the stairs after her, Ray and the cheshire cat silently discussed their...plans. 'Do you think she suspects anything?' The cheshire cat inside his head asked to which Ray merely shook his head. 'No,' Ray thought back then sighed. 'Hey, hey what's with the sigh? You...you're not backing out on the...well you know, the plan are you? The Queen she'd be...' The cheshire cat nervously started only to be interrupted by his host, 'furious. I know what must be done and that there isn't any choice in the matter, but I...I like Alice. She's my friend. I don't want to hurt her,' Ray thought back, obviously very reluctant about the whole plot. 'Hey, I know, but if we don't do this then the Queen will no doubt call us traitors and...and have us beheaded. Not exactly something I am looking forward to. Do you?' The cheshire cat reminded causing Ray to merely shake his head. 'No, of course not,' he thought back with a sigh. The cheshire cat just smiled. 'Good. Now we had best get down there and catch up with Alice before she runs into someone else,' the cheshire cat warned.
With a nod, Ray hurried down the stairs, which was very unusual for him to want to hurry. He soon caught up to Alice and tapped her abruptly on the shoulder. "Hey," he said, grinning. "So, what are we standing around here for? Let's go get something to eat," Ray said, leading the way.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I KNEW YOU YEARS AGO what i was - i don't know- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Still, nothing but silence up there in her head, and Alice sighed. To be normal in this town was to be out of place, and Alice wanted more than anything to have her character wake up. Really, she'd been going to Classic Academy for years, ever since her freshman class started four years ago. And since then? After all the bizarre classes she'd taken? 'Awakening the Spirit Within'? 'A Study in Stubborn Characters'? 'Sorcery' and still nothing? Alice was starting to feel overwhelmingly hopeless.
Her hand flew to her blond hair, twirling the strands around her finger in a habit she'd had ever since she was little. She was nervous and a little upset, but didn't like to show that side of herself to anyone, so she was inwardly grateful for the solitude of the staircase. But it wasn't log before she heard footsteps above her, light and quiet though they were, descending to her level. Alice supposed she shouldn't be surprised that Ray was so quiet when he moved; he was part cat, after all.
"Well I was waiting for you for years," Alice replied with a laugh as she quickly dropped her fingers from her hair. "God you're slow. But yeah, come on," she agreed and smiled, quickly descending the rest of the steps. She shouldered open the door that led outside and was instantly met with a wave of hot, muggy air. It blew her hair about her face in a most annoying and rather unbecoming way, but Alice only giggled and tucked it back behind her ears. Making a beeline for the dining hall across the grassy stretches and winding sidewalks of the campus, Alice checked behind her once or twice to make sure Ray was still following.

Ray laughed at Alice's sarcastic remark. He blushed a bit when she mentioned how slow he was being. He rubbed the back of his neck casually. "Yeah, sorry about that. I was just...I have a lot on my mind and yeah," he said, his tone oddly serious. It was definitely unsual for Ray to sound serious about anything since Cheshire Cat and seriousness don't mix. Realizing he may have made a slight behavioral error, Ray looking back at Alice, smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I'm right behind you. By the way, you gotta tell me how you run so fast? Keeping up with you when you were younger must have been exhausting for your parents," Ray said with a laugh.
Indeed Ray continued to follow her and whenever she turned around, Ray would just give her a little wave even though he was only a few feet away from her. He did this as to say, 'don't worry I am still following you. After all we don't want you to get away, now do we?' The Cheshire Cat within his head gave a laugh. It was an eerie laugh that caused Ray to shiver. Of all the characters to be stuck with, he had to get one with a twisted sense of humor.
As they followed Alice, Ray informed the Cheshire Cat, 'it's not funny you know?' 'Eh? What's not?' The Cheshire Cat, confused asked. Sighing, Ray answered, 'pretending to be someone else's friend then tricking them into unlocking their inner character just so we can hand her over to the Queen of Hearts is sooo not cool.' The Cheshire Cat laughed at that. 'Sure it is...for me. And don't forget it was you who agreed to cooperate with the Queen in the first place,' the Cheshire Cat quickly reminded. 'Yeah, only because I have...grown very attached to my head and I much rather keep it on,' Ray said back, rubbing his head as he did so. 'Exactly why we need to go through with this. I don't want you to lose your head either,' the Cheshire Cat replied causing Ray to sigh in defeat.
They then caught up to Alice in the dining room. Ray looked at her. "See anything good?" He asked.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I KNEW YOU YEARS AGO what i was - i don't know- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - As Alice led the way across the winding grounds to the dining hall, she couldn't help wonder a bit on what Ray said. No, not exactly what he just said, but rather how he said it. His tone had sobered and there was a seriousness to his voice that, though Alice had admittedly just met the guy, she could tell was not part of his normal characteristics. No, if Alice had to guess at his personality (and oh, she did love to guess and speculate and think wild things [often aloud to herself which practically proved she was batshit crazy]) she would have said eccentric, clever, maybe a little insane... but also hardly ever serious. She thought briefly about the Cheshire Cat from the film and couldn't recall a single time when the cat was serious. He was helpful, oh yes, in his roundabout, ridiculous way, but there was always that grin and that chuckle. In short, his almost depressingly serious tone was never something Alice expected to hear from her new happy-go-luck friend.
But they were at the dining hall now and Ray was speaking, so Alice's hard brain work suddenly flew out of her head, leaving her face with a stupid sort of vacant expression. "Uh, what?" She muttered absently, then turned to him as finally the wheels in her head started turning once more. "Oh, yeah, definitely. My parents said I was a right terror to raise. I think even the word "Hellion" might have been used. Unlike my perfect sister, ugh." She added, jokingly, with a toss of her hair and a straightening of her shoulders, mimicking the way her sister always used to hold her posture. Alice laughed back at Ray and opened to the door to the dining hall. "But whatever, anyway..." her voice trailed off they entered, the place swarming with students and faculty alike. (Actually, Alice caught sight of Mr. Dawson and nearly blushed up to her ears when she waved at him and he waved back [Alice... Focus... The tea party...]).
"See anything good?" Ray was suddenly towering over her from behind, and, startled, Alice shook her head to remember what they'd come for. "Think we gotta go back into the kitchens," she pointed to the swinging doors at the other end of the hall, where through two little windows in the doors a clean white kitchen could be seen. "That way the dinner ladies don't serve us like they do out here... We can just take what we want. We just need a distraction..."

Ray sighed in relief when his serious tone did not cause Alice to be suspicious of him. He couldn't help smiling a little at that. 'Well, that certainly was a close one. You sure are lucky that this Alice is an oblivious one otherwise we might both be in for it,' the cat hissed inside Ray's head causing Ray to rub his ear. 'Yeah, you're telling me,' Ray thought back. 'Hmmm...yes well, we'll just have to try a little harder at being subtle because next time we may not be so lucky,' the car warned. 'Got it,' Ray muttered. 'Although, I doubt we'll have any problems with this one,' Ray added. 'Yes, well we can't afford to take chances. Now can we? Not after we fucked up the last few times,' the cat reminded. Ray instinctively rubbed his neck. 'Oh, let's not talk about that anymore. I learned my lesson. I'll be much more careful this time. You'll see,' Ray reassured the crazed cat within causing him to be quiet for once.
Smiling, he looked back at Alice and sort of chuckled when she mimicked her sister. "Haha, makes me want to see your sister do it. Be amusing," Ray said. Ray sensed Alice was definitely distracted by something. He could tell. He saw it in her eyes and the way it took her forever to reply and the traitorous cat inside was growing impatient.
But when she finally did reply, he followed her finger to the kitchen's swinging double doors and smiled mischeviously. "Ah a distraction. Well, you just leave that to me. Distractions are my speciality, ya know," he said, chuckling softly. And with that, he did a slight bow, tipping his brimmed hat at Alice before slowly vanishing into thin air.
Now that he was completely invisible, Ray hurried towards the kitchen's swinging doors and walking right on in as though he owned the place. The only thing showing were of course his footprints. Chuckling, Ray walked up to the nearest dinner lady from behind and tapped her on the shoulder causing her to turn around. "BOO!" He shouted at her causing her to scream and drop the plate she was holding. "Ahhhh, ghost!" She yelled, running out of the kitchen. When everyone else turned to see what was going on and what the lady was talking about, Ray grabbing a tray was helping himself to some of the food. "A...a...a ghost," someone nervously stammered before she and everyone else ran out the door. Ray just laughed, seeing them all run.
'Well, that was fun,' the Cheshire Cat said inside his head. Ray, smiling, nodded. 'It certainly was,' he thought back.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I KNEW YOU YEARS AGO what i was - i don't know- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alice hardly had the chance to straighten her finger before Ray was on the case, disappearing before her eyes as he walked away. The double doors swung back and forth when Ray passed through them, and Alice had to drop her eyes to the floor to see any part of Ray at all. Footprints appeared on the floor where he stepped, just like they did back in their dorm room, and if Alice hadn't already seen his trick, she would have been as lost as the lunch ladies in the kitchen.
Alice dropped her hand and looked on, wondering what on Earth he could be up to - when suddenly she heard a scream, a crash, more screams, and then lunch ladies came streaming out of the kitchen followed by a floating tray piled high with food. Well, then, of course the dining hall went into an uproar as it wasn't every day (even in this town) trays floated around on their own. Alice erupted into a fit of giggles at the whole scene, clutching her stomach and trying her best to catch her breath. "R-Ray!" She laughed, rushing over to him, or at least rushing to the floating tray, "Come on!" She reached out in the air and guessed at where his arm would be, found it, grabbed it, and hurried him and the loaded tray out of the tumultuous dining hall.
"Jeeez, Ray! I said 'distraction', not 'scare everyone out of their pants!' You're not big on subtlety, huh?" Alice laughed as they hurried out of the range of the ruckus in the dining hall (though she did hope Ray would turn visible again, it was disconcerting to talk to some footprints and a pile of hovering hors d'oeuvres. "Though, I admit, either way... You did score us some great munchies."

Ray was just about to take yet another bite of the food he stole when Alice abruptly ran up and grabbed him by the arm. But even as the small girl dragged him away, he tried to eat, which was difficult for him to do while running. Not that he couldn't. It was just hard. "Alice," he complained, "hold on, I'm still trying to eat here." As the two rounded a corner, Ray slowly became visible once more. He sensed they were in the clear now and he saw no sign of any witnesses to their little food theft. 'Good,' he thought, smiling to himself. Once he relaxed he became all the way visible.
Glancing back at Alice, he chuckled softly in agreement. "Well, subtlety was never really my thing ya know. But, I guess you knew that or rather your...character does," he said then pausing his voice became serious. "She...she's somewhere in there... I can feel it," he whispered, petting her softly on the head. Shaking some thoughts away, he smiled and said, "well, if you really wanted subtlety you should have called upon the service of the white rabbit." Frowning slightly, he continued, "of course I never met the white rabbit's host. No idea who it is." Smiling he added, "but maybe just maybe our little tea party will bring him out of hiding, eh?" He took a small bite out of one of the apples he took. "So, Alice got any more ideas of how we can...pull your character out?" He asked as he continued walking hand in hand with her back to their room.
As they walked, Flash thought more about the rabbit. He knew the white rabbit also served the Queen of Hearts. No surprise there considering the little white rabbit answered the Queen's every whim in the movie. Although, he never seemed overly thrilled about doing it. Now Ray aka the Cheshire Cat was a surprise. He too served the Queen, but no one knew that and it was that very thing the Queen preyed on. And it was that very reason the Queen sent him and not the white rabbit after Alice because the poor curious young girl would not suspect the grinning, half crazed cat.
