“Good boy,”
he said, smirking. He pulled Flash closer with the band of magic still attached to his wrist, and ruffled his hair in the most patronising way he could manage. As much as sucking up to Jafar would seem like a good way to diffuse the situation, it merely encouraged him to continue his tirade of insults, by making him want to mock the little parrot for being so weak. At the same time though, it made Jafar want to praise him for falling into line – Flash had to learn his place eventually, and Jafar was pleased it was so soon. So whilst Jafar was hesitating over what to do next, John pushed himself forwards and took over his words again. “How about we try to learn some manners next time, hmm?” he suggested, before stepping back and cutting off the conversation, the band of magic previously holding Flash in place releasing him and disappearing back into the cobra’s eyes. It was becoming clear to John that if this meeting was prolonged, it would not result in positive consequences. Iago was meant to be Jafar’s sidekick, and by the looks of it, he hadn’t awoken in Flash yet. And since Flash wasn’t overly keen on John’s magic (or personality probably), it may be a good idea to back off before Flash really hated him. When Iago awoke, his influence would only be so strong, and it might not be able to overcome Flash’s opinion of John if Flash felt too strongly about him already. It was obvious Jafar wanted to continue playing with the boy, and that was never a good sign. It also meant that when John tried to start leaving, Jafar stopped him abruptly, holding him in place as though John had never tried to move. Come now John, there are so many things we can do with this child! Yes, and if you scare him off now, you may never get him back again. But he has accepted his place now. He apologised, and did you not hear him call us ‘sir’? Do you really believe that? He’s only saying those things to make you leave him alone; he’s scared... which I’ll admit, isn’t a bad thing. But you can’t honestly tell me you think Iago is awake yet, and you must realise what’ll happen if you scare off his host before the bird has any influence. I would’ve thought you’d like to have your sidekick on your side. … I suppose… Well then we keep an eye on him, and we return when Iago has awoken. Sure, sure, whatever, John replied as he transformed Jafar’s staff back into the gold ring which slid itself back onto the middle finger of John’s left hand. His eyes flickered over Flash from top to bottom again, still coming to terms with his identity. So this really was the parrot. This was Jafar’s little minion. Great first impression they’d made on each other then… Ah well, they’d meet again and have a chance to improve on it when the tension had diffused. “Unfortunately,” he began, glancing in Classic Academy’s general direction, “I should really be going. I have a lot to do, and though this meeting has been absolutely thrilling, my work does demand my attention more than you do.” As tempted as he was to leave it there, he decided it would be better to finish on a positive. “By all means, if you fancy learning a little more exciting magic than your leaf trick, drop by my office at Classic Academy. I’m sure I can spare a little of my time to help you out.” He smiled and turned away, inwardly relaxing slightly as he began to walk away from the boy. Flash had managed to rub him up the wrong way, and John was quite looking forward to getting away from him. But there was one little thought that crept into his head and caused him to stop walking. He turned back to face Flash, a smirk in the place of his smile as he added matter-of-factly, “You never did tell me what time it was.” [/blockquote] Tag?!: Flash Words?!: 690 Notes?!: He doesn't necessarily have to leave now, they can carry on, I just thought John would want to get away soon, so he'd try to. Exhausted from all of his previous struggling, Flash just stood there quietly as John pulled him even closer towards him. He stood there, cringing as John messed with his hair. He squirmed around a bit as he suddenly forgot all about his 'exhaustion.' "Don't touch me," he snarled in frustration.
And then thankfully John's own voice returned and Flash couldn't help feeling relieved. He'd much rather deal with Jafar's host than the infamous Jafar himself and perhaps it was for that very reason that he got a little bolder. So turning back to John, he smirked at him. He bowed his head at John in a mocking fashion. "You are absolutely right senior. How forgetful of me. I must have left my manners... IN MY OTHER JEANS," Flash sarcastically told him, voice rising a bit on the end. "Remind me to wear them next time," he added with a snicker. Flash then grunted once the snake staff's magic released him, sending him tumbling to the ground. at John's feet. Feeling a bit dazed, Flash struggled back to his feet. There he stood quietly for a few moments, looking John over, sizing him up. So this was the real, all powerful sorcerer that gave the rather annoying street rat a run for his money? A small smile crept across his face. Nice. Very nice. It then slowly faded as he recalled his role as Iago. As Iago he felt doomed to be this man's assistant or whatever you call it. Something he did not want to do.
And then he heard John speak again. This time he said he was leaving. 'Well, good riddance,' Flash thought to himself. 'I thought he would never leave.' However, strange as it was his offer to teach him some...magic tricks did catch his interest. He didn't want it to, but it did all the same. Flash feared that if he allowed John to teach him then he would definitely owe Jafar something and Flash knew that owing Jafar anything was not exactly a good thing. He felt that no amount of magic tricks could ever be worth such a debt. Still, Flash couldn't help feeling curious. Just what was John after, he wondered. Naturally, he guessed it was the lamp Jafar was after, but he wondered if there was something a little bit more he was after.
So finally after a few moments of thought, he spoke up, "I...don't want to keep you from your business, but I have a few questions if I may ask them. First, once you discovered you were really Jafar, what...what'd you do? How did you react? I mean you're not exactly Mickey Mouse," he asked, referring to the fact that Jafar isn't exactly a loveable character. And then John asked about the time again. Flash had to chuckle at that. He shook his head at him, amused. But, he glanced casually at his watch. "Oh, it's about...three thirty in the afternoon now," he answered. "But I have a feeling you already knew that," he added rather shrewdly. He then smiled thoughtfully, tapping on his chin, "now then about that offer of yours..." Snickering, he teasingly said, "let me guess, you want my soul. Don't you?" He jokingly asked, referencing the popular comedy, Bedazzled.

It was obvious that Flash wasn’t as scared of John himself as he was of Jafar, which he wasn’t particularly pleased with. Jafar loved it of course, but John couldn’t help but feel slightly jealous of his Disney counterpart. He was even more annoyed when Flash mocked him with a cocky retort, resulting in John accidentally allowing some of his emotion to slip out through magic. A spark of electricity leapt from John’s ring and shot across the floor, zapping at Flash’s shoes: a tiny amount of damage compared to what he wanted to do to the disrespectful child in front of him, but it would do for now.
Now, now, there’s no need for that,
Jafar teased, barely holding back his laughter. You should know better than to lose your temp- DON’T… bother… I will not accept anger management tips from the likes of you. Green is a bad colour on you. I’m not jealous. I’m really not… I can be intimidating if I want to be, John murmured, trying to block out Jafar’s laughter which had reared up after John’s ‘pitiful response’. Oh yes, hilarious, absolutely hilarious. But who’s in control of this body, hmm? You may get to be intimidating once every month or so, but I get to be whatever I want whenever I want. So don’t act cocky. That shut him up. As Flash fell to the ground in front of him, John just flashed him a little smirk and turned his back on him, beginning to walk away again. But he was forced to stop for a second time as Flash continued talking. “… Go on,” John replied slowly as Flash announced he had some questions. He remained facing away from him, listening to him speak as though he was weighing up whether it was worth staying and answering him or not. “I mean you're not exactly Mickey Mouse." He had to smile at that. True, Jafar wasn’t a very loveable character, and John hadn’t got on well with him at first, and to most people, the presence of such an angered, evil spirit would have been too much to handle, and definitely not a pleasurable experience. But John wasn’t ‘most people’, and after a rocky start, the two of them had ended up doing quite well together, and he had to admit, he quite enjoyed Jafar’s company sometimes. But to have someone like Mickey Mouse stuck in your head, with that constant cheery optimism and sickly sweet happiness; urgh, John didn’t think he could survive that. “What did I do?” he repeated, turning on his heels to face Flash again. At this rate, he’d never get to leave. “There wasn’t really much I could do. You don’t get to pick your spirit. I spent a long time fighting him to be honest; we didn’t get on at first. But you end up with your spirit for a reason, even if that reason isn’t always obvious. So there’s no point fighting it forever. As for how I reacted, well I’d already realised Jafar was a big possibility so it didn’t come as much of a shock. I was quite… proud, I suppose. Not everyone gets to host someone as powerful as Jafar, and to have such strong magic too. Yeah, I’d say I was quite pleased.” Jafar had remained quiet, clearly not wanting to react to a statement like that. John could hear his thoughts mulling round, and half sentences beginning to form, ranging from ‘well of course you’re pleased’ to ‘I suppose you’re not a terrible host’. But he didn’t actually respond to him, apparently too proud to say anything nice about John, but too touched to tease him for it, causing John to roll his eyes and just smile slightly. The comment about Flash’s soul made him simultaneously raise both eyebrows and give a surprised laugh. His soul? Well, that was unusual. “No, actually, your soul isn’t the top of my shopping list right now. Interesting idea though, and if you’re offering it, I’ll bear that in mind,” he added, a jokey tone to his voice in contrast to the seriousness he’d displayed so far. “No, no, it was merely an offer to help out an aspiring magician.” It was very difficult to keep the cynicism out of his voice, hinting that their might still be an ulterior motive. Both John and Jafar were quite interested in having Iago in debt to them, so they could call on a favour some time in the future if they needed it. If they helped Flash out, it was only right that Flash return the favour some time in the future. And it was always good to hold something over the head of your sidekick, just in case they needed that extra little push to join the right side in a battle. When John angrily zapped his feet out of response to Flash not fearing him as much as Jafar, Flash with a startled cry leaped into the air. There was a tall tree hanging above them and as Flash jumped into the air, he caught hold of one of the branches and held on. Down below him, he shot John an irritated glare. "You know you might want to warn me next time you go on one of your little rampages," Flash called down to him before losing his grip and falling back down to the hard ground below. Luckily, he landed in some nearby bushes. Flash was most annoyed. 'My could this day possibly get any more humiliating for me? Flash thought to himself in annoyance. 'Already I am acting like the stereotypical annoying, clumsy sidekick type,' Flash thought, agitated.
Flash sort of pushed himself out of the bushes and strode back over to where John stood. "And anotherf thing," Flash said, dusting himself off, "you don't have to be so jealous of your character. It's just not healthy for you envying something that's not even real. Take it from someone...like me who is strong willed and able to keep their so-called character at bay. And hey if you promise to be nice to me I'll even let you on my little secret on how I have such...control." Flash should have known better than to act like such a show off to John, but his pride and arrogance not to mention his big mouth once again got in the way of his more sensible self. Flash didn't realize it, but he was starting to act and sound more like Iago with each pressing moment.
He then listened intently to what John had to say about his relationship with Jafar. Flash nodded at him, only pretending to understand when he really didn't. "I see... Well, I suppose having an evil, powerful sorcerer in you head isn't a bad call. Just...try to control it, will you? And like I said before if you ever need help with...control come talk to me. I don't want to brag, but...I know how to keep characters at bay," Flash boasted.
Looking back at him he had to frown at John's next statement regarding his soul. He forced a laugh. "Yeah, hehe good one, John, but uh that...that was actually a little joke of mine. Don't take it too seriously, okay? Cause there is no way I would actually give you my soul," Flash informed him. Flash realized John was only joking around too, but he couldn't help thinking that if given the chance, John probably would take his soul or in the very least turn him into a mindless drone. Flash shivered at the thought. 'Ewww, what a horrorfying idea,' Flash thought.
Flash looked back at him unsure whether to fully believe him or not. "Really? You mean it?" He asked in disbelief. But, Flash knew an opportunity to learn more magic when he saw one and he wasn't about to pass this one up. So, deciding to take a chance, he agreed. "Well, alright, I suppose when we both have more time on out hands, I just...might consider popping over in your classroom for...lessons. Just tell when you're free. I know how busy you teacher types are," Flash said, uncertainity in his voice.
